VOLUNTEERS.

A battalion parade of tho rifle corps took place last week at the Drill Shed. Both corps mustered well —the City Rifles numbering (12, under Captain Dulhio, and the Guards 51, under Captain Paterson. Major Collins was in command. LieutenantColonel Newall was present and inspected, after which the battalion was utilised for the practical examination of Major Collins and Captain Duthio. A meeting held last week at Woodvilloto form a Volunteer corps was at tended by 100, and was enthusiastic. Fifty were enrolled, but tho list is to bo kept open till next Wednesday night, when officers will he elected.
