List month 63 applications tor patents and 23 applications for trade marks were registered in the Colony. .Nine of the applications for patents were from Wellington, and one application for a trade mark. The steamer Waitapu, which was reported off Wanganuion Wednesday with her rudder and rudder-post gone, arrived here Thursday afternoon in tow of the Aorere. She was picked up off Mana Island by the Aorere. It was when crossing the Patea bar that the injury was received, and steering became a matter of difficulty, wing balls and planks having to be called into use. They did not answer very satisfactorily, however, as two blades of the propeller had been knocked flat, which caused the steamer to go round instead of ahead. The vessel is not making much i water.
