THE CAPE COMMISSIONERS.
THEIR PROGRAMME. Messrs Walter Halse (of Carnarvon Farm, Queenstown, Capo Colony), and J. D. J. Visser, Commissioners appointed by the Government of Cape Colonj' to report upon the agriculture of Australasia, arrived from Sydney by the Mararoa on January 29. They called at the Promier's office, but Mr Seddon was out at the time, and subsequently an interview with the Premier was arranged for next day._ In the afternoon the Commissioners visited the Agricultural Department, and were received by Mr T. W. Kirk, Government biologist, who promised to supply them with copies of all official publications relating to New Zealand agriculture and horticulture, as well as the land laws of the Colony, the official year book, &c. The Commissioners were then introduced to Mr L. G. Reid, hon treasurer of the Wellington Acclimatisation Society, with whom they had a conversation on the subject of acclimatisation of trout, &c By direction of the Premier, free passes over the New Zealand Government Railways have been issued to the Commissioners, and he intends to offer them every facility for obtaining the information of which they are in quest. mma m
