Mr T. Hammond, one of the most popular residents of the Rangitikei district, was driving at Pemberton with his sister,, Mrs \V. Cawood, on Saturday, when the horses bolted. Mrs Cawood was thrown out of the buggy, but fortunately escaped without injury, but Mr Hammond, who kept his hold of the reins,was dragged along the road for some distance, aad had hifl n>ht thigh hn-dlv laeftrn.tfld.
