The first day's sport of the Wellington 1 rotting Club s meeting at Miramar on Thursday passed off very successfully. The attendance wis large, fully 1000 people beingpresent on the ground. The wind and dust combined, however, made things very unpleasant occasionally for the spectators, and detracted considerably from their enjoyment. Speculation on the totalisator was brisk, a total of J>lßos being put through toeS machine, which was in charge of MrP. There were good finishes in the Te Arc* Handicap, Dash Handicap and Electrie. Handicap, but the other raws appeared absolute certainties almost from the start and caused little excitement. The second day's racing of the Wellington Trotting Club was held at Miramar on Saturday under circumstances which were far from favourable. A strong northerly wind was blowing, with the result that the course was constantly swept by clouds of dust, and the attendance was not so numerous as on Thursday. Speculation on the totalisator also was ; less brisk, the total amount put through the j machine during the day being .£1435. There was a want of punctuality in the variouß events. With reference to two of the protests, in the case of Ned Kelly the members of the press were excluded from the stewards' room during the hearing of evidence, while they were allowed to remain when the protest against Bobby Burns was under consideration.
