London, January 20. At the wool sales, competition continues spirited, with prices hardening. London, January 21. At the Bradford wool sales the prices realised were the highest of the series, many lots being disposed of at a slight advance on the last top rates. The wool market continues firm at full prices. The second wool sale of the season was held to-day. The prices realised are about as follow :—Crossbreds, 6yd to Bg-d ; long wool, 6 T d to 8d ; lambs, 6£d to 7id (one line brought 8.',-d) ; pieces, 4d to 6d.

The next wool sales in Wellington will be held on the 14t-.h February. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received the following from its London office, dated 21st January: Wool—Since close of last sales, greasy merino super., scoured merino super., greasy merino medium and inferior, scoured merino medium and inferior, are hd to Id per lb higher ; washed merino super., washed merino medium and inferior, fine t greasy crossbred, are id per lb higher ; greasy merino lambs' super, are id to Id per lb higher ; greasy merino lambs' medium and inferior, greasy crossbred lambs', are id per lb higher; slipe merino since close of last sales are par to id per )b higher. Other descriptions unchanged, 'i he total quantity catalogued to date is 02,000 bales The total quantity withdrawn to date is 3500 bales. Messrs Murray, Roberts and Co. have received the following wool market cablegram from their London house, Messrs Sanderson, Murray and Co., dated 2lst January : Compared with the closing rates of last London sales, greasy merino combing has advanced 5 to 7 per cent. Scoured merino advanced a shade. Greasy and scoured crossbred, fine, show very little change, but, if any, it is slightly downwards, prices being irregular. Greasy crossbred, coarse, has advanced a shade.
