The prize matches of the season in which members of the Wellington Bowling Club are engaged are now well advanced. The following games have been completed : —President's and Vice-President's Match. —First round— J. Blundell beat R. Mowatt by 21 to 8, Waddell beat Veitch by 22 to 8, Mentiplay beat A. Scoullar by 21 to 18, T. Scoullar beat Geddis by 21 to 13. All the others drew byes. Second round —Reich beat J. The third round of the Inter-club Pennant Matches was commenced on the Wellington Bowling Green on Saturday afternoon, when the Wellington Club defeated the Thorndon and Newtown Clubs, the former by 26 points, and the latter by 25 points. The matches were four rinks a side ; 21 heads. In order to complete the third round Newtown and Thorndon have to play a match on Saturday week. Then, a fortnight later, the fourth and final round will be started. At present the Wellington Club has a record of five wins and one loss, Thorndon two wins and three losses, and Newtown one win and four losses. The Wellington Club has only two more matches to play, and it would require to lose both of them and Thorndon to win the three matches it has yet to play to make a tie between these_ two clubs. As for Newtown it cannot even tie.
