ENGLISH RACING.

London, July 25. At the Liverpool July meeting, the Liverpool Cup, one mile and three furlongs, was won by Mr Houlds worth's bl h Bushey Park, 6yrs, by Hampton —Sunshine, Gazetteer running second, and Sancho Panza third. London, July 26. The Duke of Portland has invited 50 newspaper men to inspect his recent purchase, Carbine, and the other horses of his stud. A few days ago I wrote stating that the Stratford Eacing Club were negotiating to purchase Bushfoid Park, the local racecourse. These negotiations, however, have now fallen through, and Mr McHaffey, the owner of the course, has turned in a firm of surveyors, and is cutting up tlm property with a view of disposing it in building a very valuable site for such a purpose. It is three years ago since a local racecourse was proposed. Mr McHaffey offered a 21 years' lease of Bashford Park, with a purchasing clause at £37 10s per acre, calculated on a 7 per cent, basis. The Club offered him -£35, which was declined. Later, he offered to accept this, with i>2oo down and the balance at 7 per cent. The Club thought this too high, but made no offer. Mr McHaffey then offered to submit to arbitration. This was declined by the Club, but the secretary said in time he would officially make an offer of £1440 for 77 acres. Mr McHaffey pointed out that in order to do business, if the Club gave him .£25 per acre for the 91 acres, they could have it, the vendor to have a lease of his house and land at a rental of .£IOO per annum. As the Club did not immediately come to teims, the land is now being cut up for sale or lease, and the Stratford Eacing Club exists now without a course.—Our Stratford correspondent,
