July 24 and 25. —Blenheim August 3 and 4. —Dunedin August 7 and B.—lnvercafgill November. —Wellington NOTES. By Fancier. The collie bitch which Mr F. A. Kebbell is importing will arrive hero in the lonic. She is a sable and white by Eufford Ormonde ex Bessie. A pug clog with a wooden leg greatly amuses the inhabitants of Baltimore, U.S.A. Poor puggy was run over by a street car, and as he was a great pet his owner paid handsomely to have an artificial limb fitted. Now the clog runs about as happy as if the leg was the original member.

It has been computed that in Great Britain there are two million dog-owners, and twenty thousand exhibitors and breeders of dogs. How oilr shows would flourish if we could show numbers approaching these.

I would strongly advise the local society* writes " Terror" in the Otago Witness, to watch the (tendency of the times as regards centralisation of all things in the Empire City. Anyone with half an eye can see that the New Zealand Kennel Club cannot long survive if left in the hands of the present executive, owing to the incapable and ineffectual manner in which the business of the club has been, and is being, conducted. Of course, though wefrnay reconcile ourselves to the past, we must of necessity look to the future, and I think an effort should be made in the direction of having headquarters removed to Dunedin. Immediate action is advisable, otherwise what seems almost inevitable will certainW happen. There is one thing certain —an alteration must take place; things cannot rest as they are at present in Christchurch.

With reference to what " Terror " says about the present headquarters of the New Zealand Kennel Ciub, every true fancier will agree. His suggestion to move the headquarters to Dunedin is simply absurd. In the first place that city is too far away. Fancy asking an Auckland delegate for instance to travel all the way to Dunedin to attend a meeting of the New Zealand Kennel Club. "Terror's" common sense should show him that the central position of Wellington adapts it for the headquarters. Another argument in favour of the Empire City is that the very best class of people take an active interest in kennel matters, and they, I contend, are the kind of people to make the New Zealand Kennel Club the sort of club which it should be. And further, there never has been the slightest approach to a scandal a,bout the affairs of the Wellington Kennel Club. Can the southern club show as clean a record 1 Again, another argument offers ; kennel matters are acknowledged to be far more active in Wellington than in any other city in the Colony. I hope " Terror" will see the force of my arguments and join me in urging the removal of the headquarters of the New Zealand Kennel Club to Wellington. I have been assured that all the more respectable of Dunedin fanciers wish Wellington fanciers to have control of the New Zealand Kennel Club's affairs.

The Fox Terrier Chronicle says that Mr Redmond is breeding his Champion fox terrier bitch Dame Fortune to Devereux, own brother to the Harewood Kennels bitch Diversion. This shows that in New Zealand our blood is of tha " right colour."

Mr Hutchinson, of Auckland, is sending his fox terrier bitch, Melbourne Harmony, on a visit to the Harewood Kennels Terror, imported.

An Irish terrier fancier in Wellington id making enquiry in Melbourne for a good stud dog. This is a step in the right direction, for there is no real crack in the place. An expenditure of Ll sto L2O should prove » good investment.

Fanciers will regret to hear that Mr Bligh has had bad luck with his first litter by British Looper, every puppy in the litter having died.

Fanciers who propose making entries for Dunedin should not forget that entries close on July 20fch. Entries for Blenheim close on the same date. If the enterprising " Tommy " could be prevailed upon to go to Dunedin, I have no doubt Wellington would make a good entry.

" Man ton," the Christchareh correspondent of the New Zealand Fancier, writes td that paper as follows :—" Dr Moorhouse, President of the Dog Society, called on me the other day and requested me to inform any one that had a claim of any sort against the Society to call on him and he would pay without further delay. The Doctor and a few of the Committee have resolved to pay all liabilities (D4O) of the Society's and then resign. I hope all our fanciers will bury any existing petty jealousies, form a good strong committee and go in determined to make the next show a success, and in that case, I have no doubt they will succeed."

In my next letter, writes the Wellington correspondent of the Nero Zealand Fancier, I hope to be able to give particulars of a sheep dog trial in Wellington. It is said that the present Committee of the Wellington Kennel Club are determined to hold a trial.

At a meeting of the committee of the Welpmgton Kennel Club last week a "country" member was defined as a person residing otvtsidea radius of five miles from the city boundaries. It was decided to ask Mr B-ae, of Melbourne, to judge the next show. The schedule for the next show is to be settled at the next meeting of the committee.
