At Auckland on Queen's Birthday a parade of the boys attending the public schools in the city, wh© have received military instruction from the Permanent Force instructors by order of the Government, took place in the Metropolitan Ground, at the rear of Government House, in the presence of a large assemblage. Seven city schools were represented by about 250 boys belonging to the" upper standards. The boys' drum and fife band belonging to the Chapel street school played. The parade, which was held at the'request of Lieutenant-Colonel Goring, was under the command of that officer. At the close of the parade three cheers were given for the Queen.
