MUNITIONS OF WAR.

THREE THOUSAND RIFLES AND CARBTNES ORDERED. We have ascertained on enquiry that the Government have just ordered from the Imperial War Office 3000 Martini-Henry rifles and carbines. When.these arrive, as they may be expected to do within the next three or four months, the whole of the defence forces will be armed with the Martini-Henry. Two separate consignments were received some considerable time since, and the order just despatched will fulfil all existing requirements. Taken in conjuction with the contract which the Government have with the Auckland Ammunition Company for the manufacture of Martini-Henry ammunition, ample provi-* sion is now made for defence material.
