THE DAIRY INDUSTRY.
Dunedin, May 16. Mr J. B. McEwaa has been appointed Chief Dairy Expert for the Colony. Dairy schools are to be started in each Island. London, May 16. The Scotsman says the Victorian export trade in farm produce promises to equal, if not outstrip, the most formidable competitors in other quarters of the world. The factory system of dairying has already yielded results which its strongest advocates could hardly have expected. Tho paper advises more attention to breeding and feeding stock. Vfith cheaper freights and more scientific raising of stock the Victorian farmers will bo enabled to compete successfully against Sweden, Denmark, Canada and America. London, May 17. Nelson Bros, are sending an experimental shipment of 12 tons of butter and seven tons of cheese to the Cape and Natal.
