The Wellington Orchestral Society resumed practising on Tuesday for their sixth season. There was a full muster of members. Mr J. H. O. Schwartz conducted in the absence of Mr Alfred F. Hill (the Society’s conductor), who is away on a holiday at Auckland. Glinka s “ Life of the Czar ” and Schubert’s beautiful" Symphony in C ” were the works put in hand. A meeting of the members was held before commencing practise to decide if the Society could provide the orchestra for a production of “ St. Paul ” by the Festival Choral Society in aid of the Hospital funds. It was resolved that the Society could not undertake to provide the orchestra as a body,
