Mr Frgd Pirani, M.H.R., addressed his constituents at Apiti on Tuesday week. The member for Palmerston said the Government had a sincere desire to legislate in the best interests of the Colony, and were trying to render the conditions of existence supportable to the majority of the people, instead of adopting the old method of caring only for the comfort of the few. Already they had accomplished wonders in the face of considerable difficulty, in the face of calumny, misrepresentation and abuse of the worst kind. Mr T. J. Glaphan proposed a hearty vote of thanks and confidence, and expressed a high opinion of the speech just delivered and the conduct of their member. The motion was seconded by Mr Vicary, and carried with acclamation. _ The Post and Telegraph Office at Opunake has been renovated.
