ODDFELLOWSHIP.
The Quarterly Purple Lecture was held at the Loyal Antipodean Lodge on Friday, the following officers and deputies being present—G. F. J or dan, Prov. G.M.; J. Kershaw, Prov. C.S.; R. Smith, Prov, Warden and Examining Officer; R. Mothes, Past Prov. G.M. -Deputies Britannia Lodge—P.P.G.M.'s T. McKenzie, S. Waters, G. E. Godber, T. Madeley; Past-Grands J. Brown, H. McCarthy.. Antipodean Lodge —P.P.G.M.'s J, Smith, jun„ W. Guise, J« Martin, I. Clark, J. J. Webb ; Past-Grands —O. Daly. M. Maxton, P. G. Thirkell, B. Furness, H. Blair..
At the request of the* Prov. G.M., Past Prov. G.M. T. McKenzie installed Bro. J* Avery to the office of deputy-pro v. grand master, and in doing so complimented Bro, Avery on his election, and offered a few words of encouragement. Certificates having been received, the following members were duly advanced to the respective degrees:—Elective secretaries' degree, Bro* T. S. Powell (Britannia Lodge) and W. E. Howe (Antipodean Lodge) ; past vice-grands' degree, Bros. A. E. Cousins (Britannia Lodge) and W. E. Hot<e (Antipodean Lodge); past noble grands' degree, Bros. F. W. Fielder (Britannia Lodge) and J. H. Hayhow (Antipodean Lodge); most honourable purple degree, P.G. W.- H. Payne (Britannia Lodge) and P. G. Robert Read (Antipodean Lodge). P.P.G.M. J. Smith, juh., referred to the annual church parade, and trusted that members would do what they could to secure a good attendance. A letter was read from Bro. the Right Rev the Lord Bishop of Wellington, and also forwarding a letter of introduction from Past Grand Master A. Sydney Campkin, of Cambridge, England, referring to the great interest that Bro. Rev F. D. Wallis had taken in Friendly Society work. It was recommended that a meeting should be arranged to formally receive the Right Rev Brother. The meeting then closed. AMERICAN ORDER. Dunedin, March 22. At the Oddfellows' meeting to-day, sympathy was expressed with the relatives of Bro. Harper, killed on the Manawatu railway. It was resolved that the Otaki Lodge be placed in the Wellington North Electoral District, instead of Wellington South. The Grand Master (Bro. Frank Wills), after being installed, appointed the following officers : —Bro. Small, Wellington, Grand Marshal; Bro. Rutherfurd, Palmerston North, Grand Conductor; Bro. Miller, Dunedin, Grand Guardian; Bro. Armiger, Auckland, Grand Herald. The session has closed.
