the polo tournament. - ' Christchurch, March. 18. The polo tournament was commenced here to-day with a game between Christchurch and Auckland, the local men winning by six goals to one. In the middle of the first spell O’Rorke, of Auckland, received a blow in the face from the ball, and although he continued to play, and did remarkably well, he was placed at a great disadvantage. The following were the teams :—Christchurch Parker, Lane, R. H. Rhodes, Palmer. Auckland Wynyard, -Tonks, O’Rorke, Bloomfield. Christchurch, March 19. The polo tournament was continued today with matches between Rangitikei first and Warrengate, and between Rangitikei second and North Canterbury. The weather was again fine, and there ' . was a good attendance. The first game produced some splendid play, but Rangitikei first, besides being the better-mounted team, were a little stronger than their opponents, and ultimately won by five goals to one. The game between North Canterbury and Rangitikei second was of a most exciting description, and the result was a tie, each team having scored four goals. It. was decided to play another spell, and, amidst great excitement, Dalrymple hit a goal and secured the match for Rangitikei second. The following were the teams engaged: —Rangitikei first : Blundell, J. Wilson, Riddiford, Bell. Warrengate: Chapman, McDonald, Cameron, Howison. Rangitikei second : W. Keiller, Dalrymple, E. Keiller, J. G. Wilson. North Canterbury : Lance, Gray, Dampier-Crossley, McDonald.
