WELLINGTON COLLEGE.

The annual swimming sports of the Wellington College were held in Te Aro Baths last week, and, although the water was a trifle rough, were a complete success. Excellent exhibitions of swimming and diving were given by the boys, and most of the races were keenly contested. The successful competitors were Championship Race, 200yds.—Tripe i, 1; Ereyberg i, 2. There were four entries. Won easily. 60yds Race (under 14). —Smith iii, 1,Buddie ii, 2. Strong and Ereyberg i recorded a dead heat for third place. There were 13 entries. The winner’s handicap enabled him to win easily. Long Dive. Smith iii, 1 ; Reade, 2 ; Haselden i, 3. Ten entries. The winner had very little to spare. Handicap Race (under 12). —Bell ii, 1; Willeston, 2; Butt ( ii, 3. Seven entries. Won easily. 220yds Handicap. —Manning, 1; Smith iii, 2 ; Strong, 3. There were 14 entries. Manning won easily, but the fight for second place was very keen between Strong and Smith, the latter winning by a foot. 80yds Handicap (under 15). —Sladien ii, 1; Exley, 2; Butt i, 3. There were 14 entries. This was a very exciting race, Sladden winning by about 6in. Diving for Plates. —Reade, 1; Smith iii, 2; Hey wood, 3. Handicap Race (under 12). —Butt ii, 1 ; Holt, 2. There were six entries. This was an excellent race. Consolation Race. —Hales i, 1 ; Strong, 2; Haselden ii, 3. Won easily. There were 10 entries.
