THE TAVIUNI IN A HURRICANE.
Auckland, March^l3. The Taviuni, which has arrived 4 from, Fiji, encountered a hurricane dm' the passage, and Captain Smith . was • washed 45 feet along the deck and injured, narrowly escaping being washed overboard. The direction of the hurricaps&* was towards New Caledonia and New Hebrides, and bad news may be thence. His Excellency Sir John Thurston, Governor of Fiji, is a passenger by the Taviuni, and proceeds by that steamer to Wellington. He goes to London, returning in September.
