The railway freights in Victoria for the carriage of live stock have been reduced 10 percent. An Adelaide firm has commenced tinning rabbits for the London market, and expects to develop a large trade. The annual meeting of the Masterton Agricultural and Pastoral Association was held on Saturday. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers was then proceeded with, but nobody present would consent to act as either president or vice-president. Mr James Stuckey moved that a committee W five be appointed to wind up the affairs of the Association, and to endeavour to get the Wairarapa Association to hold their annual ram fairs in Masterton. This re- | solution was afterwards altered to read that the shows of the Association be held in the autumn in conjunction with the ram fair, but this was ruled out of order. Eventually the meeting* adjourned for a week, a committee being appointed to interview Mr W. Lowes to see if he would act as president. Four hundred bales of wool were sent away from Masterton duringthepast month. Mr J. A. Gilruth, Government Veterinarian, is expected in Masterton towards the end of the present week.
