‘ Mr Kowin, representative of Lovell and Christmas, produce merchants, of London, was entertained at a farewell gathering at Hawera. In the course of his speech he expressed the belief that the prices of dairy produce would improve, and that the European countries could not long compete with the colonies in winter. It was also stated that the value of the Taranaki dairy produce this season would exceed .£250,000,
