Madrid, March 1. Three hundred rebels have been arrested in Cuba; The Spanish Government is preparing a force of 6000 to restore order in the island. Madrid, March 2. The Government has decided to reinforce the garrison at Cuba by eight battalions. Capetown, March 3. Hews has reached here that the King of Swaziland has summoned his best regiments to Bremersdorp for the purpose of resisting the occupation of the territory by the Boers. The white residents are fortifying the Government buildings for their protection. Sydney, March 5. A China steamer brings news of a disastrous fire at Singapore on 31st January. No less than 150 houses were destroyed, and it is estimated that the loss is 250,000 dollars. The fire originated through a lad letting off fireworks in a Chinese shop. Calcutta, March 4. Some miscreant in Jubbulpore displaced a rail on a railway line with the result that some of the carriages of a passing train were thrown over an embankment. Nine persons were killed.
