It is announced that an acre of land in Kiddiford street has been purchased for Messrs R. Bell and Co., limited, wax vesta manufacturers, and it is gratifying to learn that a spacious factory with every facility for turning out goods of undoubted quality will be erected at once. Special attention has been given to the sanitary arrangements, and the comfort of employees in all departments will be carefully studied. The buildings will be similar in all respects to those recently erected in Melbourne byMessrs Bell and Co., and it is to be hoped the enterprise will be entirely successful. The Hon Mr Carroll and the SurveyorGeneral went out to Porirua on Friday, and inspected a boundary line which is in dispute between the Government and the Natives, and which affects a former purchase of land by the Government in the Porirua district. The Natives allege that the survey did not adhere to the boundary indicated by them when they sold, but took in a larger area than they contracted to sell, and they therefore claim to have the alleged surplus restored to them. As a result of the inspection, a. report will be prepared for submission to the Cabinet.
