Mr J. D. Ritchie, chief inspector of stock, has returned from his visit to the experimental farm at Momohaki, near Waverley. Preparations are about ready for starting some ten days hence a series -of experiments in the treatment of sheep suffering from parasitic worms, a malady that for years past has produced a heavy mortality among the flocks on the West Coast of this Island. Different experiments will be tried in feeding and drenching, with a. view of ascertaining the most effectual method of treatment. Mr Gilruth, Government veterinarian, is now at the farm, and will put the experiments in train, besides returning from time to time as his other engagements permit, in order to exercise a general supervision. The experimental nursery is looking well. There are now about five acres planted with various kinds of fruit trees, and with some 60 or 70 varieties of vines. About four acres additional are to be planted this year. At Messrs Gorton's sheep fair at Feilding on February 22 there was a marked improvement all round in prices.
