Dunedin, February 15. In reference to the explanation of the #/dgisfrar Of tho New Zealand University regarding the MiltoU girl having received no notice of having passed tho iriatrioulation examination in 1893, nothing is said as to why her name did not appear in the list of successful candidates published in the press. As to the surprise that no inquiry was made sooner, the girl had neither father ot brother to consult, and the natural inference of one unacquainted with University examinations was that the silence was dtto to disqualification or the want of merit in her Work.
