SHOOTING.
CITY RIFLE CORPS. The weekly shooting competition of the City Rifles on Saturday afternoon was largely attended, both classes being well represented. The shooting was exceptionally good, the average of the first ten men being over 80 points per man. Turner scored a win for the senior trophy with a score of 86, Guise and R. Halpin taking the ammunition prizes with 84 each. In the junior class Rankin scored a win, which counts for the class trophy, Wickens and Faber taking the ammunition prizes with 76 and 73 respectively. The conditions were -.—Seven shots at 300yds, 500yds and 600yds. The highest scores were as follow: — A Class, trophy of <£3,ard two ammunition prizes.—Turner, 86 ; Guise, 84 ; R. Halpin, 84; Jackson, 83; Madden, 82 ; Madeley, 81; Elliott, 80; Harris, 76 ; Williason, 74; Davis, 73 ; Robinson, 65 ; Luke, 65. Aggregates.—Guise, 836 ; Jackson, 802; Halpin, 743 ; Davis, 732; Madeley, 729 ; Madden, 721 ; Williason, 718 ; Luke, 706 ; Harris, 673. B. Class, trophy of £2 and two ammunition prizes.—Rankin, 79; Wickens, 76; Faber,'73 ; Halpin, 71; Bunckenburgh, 71; Jenkins, 67; Larkin, 56; Marshall, 53 ; Gleeson, 50. Aggregates.—Madden, 721 ; Bunckenburgh, 652; Marshall, 648; Halpin, 639 ; Wickens, 636 ; Rankin, 631. The teams match for Lieutenant W. G. Duthie's trophy is creating much interest, and the contest on Saturday was very keen and exciting. Colour-Sergeant Davis* team scored a win counting for the trophy by two points over Sergeant Jackson's team, who has already two wins to their credit. The leading scores are as follow :—Davis' team, 302; Jackson's team, 300; Luke's team, 295; Guise's team, 271; Madeley 'a I team, 270.
I KARORI RIFLE CLUB. The members of the Karori Rifle'Club held a competition on Saturday last for Messrs Gillespie's and Lewec's trophies, Lissington and Burns obtaining scores which count for the prizes. The ranges were 500, 600 and 700yds, and the following made the highest scores : —F. Lissington, 81; J. Burns, 79 ; E. Randell, 77 ,• J. Murphy, 69, and R. Randell, 68.
The trophy presented to the Pahiatua Rifle Club by Mr C. J. Norton' was fired for on Wednesday, when G. Avery won.
