A report has reached the Labour Department that an endeavour is to be made to have the license of. a hotel at Otaki transferred to a building in close proximity to the State Farm at Levin. The Minister for Labour has therefore given instructions for one of the officers of his department to appear before the Licensing Court for the district to protest against anything of the sort being done, as there are obvious reasons why the people whom the State Farm is intended to benefit should be kept at a distance from the bar traffic of a hotel. A good idea of the speed of the bulb-fin boats can be gained from the fact that the Miru beat the crack 18 feet lona, which measures double the size, by nearly 20 minutes, on Saturday.
