PROPOSED EXHIBITION.

The proposal to hold an exhibition in this city next year was further considered at a meeting of luxsuieoS people held at the Chamber of Coi.ifierce on the 13th inst. Mr J. McLellan due* idem I of the Chamber of Commerce) occupied the chair. The chairman informed the meeting that he had had a conversation with the Premier on the subject ,of the proposed exhibition, and Mr Seddon had expressed the opinion that the time for such an undertaking was very opportune. The movement, the Premier stated, had his entire sympathy, and the promoters could look forward to receiving all the assistance the Government could possibly give.

It was decided, on the motion of Mr H. T 3. Bell, M.H.R., seconded by Mr E. W. Mills, " That the president of the Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with His Worship the Mayor, be requested to call a public meeting- to consider the advisableness of holding an exhibition in Wellington in 1895-6." It was decided, on the motion of Mr Bell, seconded by Mr Suckling-Baron, " That the Council of the Chamber of Commerce be requested to draft resolutions to be submitted to such meeting."
