Pretoria, February 14. The Volksraad has passed the Swaziland Convention. [This convention, now ratified by the Parliament of the South African Republic, is similar to that which expired in ] 893, making the country a. protectorate of the Transvaal.] Tangiers, February 15. A. Moorish cavalry corps is on the road to Fez conveying to the Sultan of Morocco two cartloads of salted heads, cut from the bodies of rebels, which are to be exhibited from the walls of the palace. Capetown, February 18. The King and Queen of Swaziland have refused to recognise the English Convention with the Transvaal, declaring that they still cling to Queen Victoria.
[A deputation from Swaziland went to England last year to ask that Great Britain should establish a protectorate over the country; but the English Government has always declined that course.] Cairo, February 18.
The Khedive is inclined to dismiss Nubar Pasha, on the ground of alleged subserviency to the English. This attitude is seriously fanning the native fanaticism against the Europeans.
