CABINET MEETING.

The Premier arrived by the Rotorua from Nelson on Wednesday morning'. Ministers met in Cabinet during the forenoon, and some rather important business was under consideration. The proposals made by the PostmasterGeneral at the Postal Conference regarding the Pacific mail service, in the direction of the establishment of a four-weekly service to Vancouver alternately with the San Prancisco service, were approved of. Certain proposals which have been submitted for completely changing the inland postage of the Colony were discussed and then postponed pending further investigation. An expenditure of .£6OOO was authorised upon wharf extension at Port Chalmers, so that the direct steamers may be able to berth alongside. The railway authorities were authorised to put the work in hand.
