ALTERATIONS AT GOVERNMENT BUILDINGS.
The men who are engaged in making the internal alterations at the Government Buildings recommended by the Commission which reported last year have almost completed their work on the first floor of the south-west wing;' A.wliolo suite of offices has been thrown into one large room, with a row. of iron columns down the centre. A similar transformation is being effected on tL e floor above, and also on the ground floor and first floor on" the north-east wing. Coincidently with these alterations, the quarters of the different officials are being re-arranged so that the various offices of each department may be en suite. Thus Mr Tregear is to be moved from the top floor to an office on. the ground floor in close propinquity to the room now occupied by the other officials of the Labour Bureau. Colonel Fox will then take possession of Mr Tregear’s present office, and LieutenantColonel Hume (Inspector of Prisons) will be shifted from the second floor to the room on the top floor adjoining Mr Tregear’s, and hitherto occupied by the Chief Judge of the Native Land Court. The Hon Mr Cadman, as Minister of Railways, is to take possession of the room formerly allotted to the Minister of Public Works.
