A young man named Joseph Traynor was arrested by A.cting-Detective Hutton at the Manawatu Railway Station on Tuesday, on a charge of attempting to obtain £7 by means of a valueless cheque from A. Downes, licensee of the Club Hotel. Mounted Constable Wilson arrested a man named Albert Wilson, who had been sentenced to a month’s imprisonment at Auckland for failing to support his mother. The constable, who had read a description of the man, came across him in the street, and, recognising him, promptly took him into custody.
