A deadlock occurred through the Legislative Council amending the Appropriation Bill by striking out an item. The Council afterwards reinserted the Vote, however, but claimed the right to alter money Bills except when they related to taxation. .
Thirty live cattle have been shipped by the Maori King on behalf of an influential English cattle-dealer. This is the first lot purchased in the open market for other than the owners. When Cress well first became an inmate of an asylum he was in"the habit of inditing letters to highly-titled personages, as if on familiar terms with them. These were afterwards found to have been schoolfellows of Sir Roger.
