BETTING MARKET.

• The local betting market has been fairly active during the week, the horses principally'-': supported being Rosefeldt, Skirmisher, Au Revoir, Lady Zetland, Golden Plover, Pinrose, Magazine and Casket, mostly for small wagers. Lady Zetland has been backed during the week for nearly .£6OO at “ sevens,” but it is not known Whether for the stable or not, although Mr Hobbs, when passing through Wellington lastnyveek, declared he had not backed either Prime Warden, Lady Zetland or Saracen'for the Wellington Cup. A wager of 300 to 20 was accepted about Pinrose, but it is not known if this is for the stable, although laid to a Hawke’s Bay backer. With the majority of backers, so far as Wellington is concerned, Golden Plover is most enquired for. The following are as near as possible the ruling quotations for those still left in the race: — : WELLINGTON CUP.

A piece of Plate of the value of 100 soys, with 400'Sovs added, second horse to receive 40 sovs and the third horse 20 sovs from the ithkes. Nomination, 2 sovs; acceptance, S sovs; final payment, 5 sov*. After the declaration of the weights for this race, the winner of any handicap flat race of the value of TOO sovs may be re-handicapped, and made to'Carry such aditional weight as the Handicapper nay impose. One mile and a half.
