Whence was most capital withdrawn last year—from Maoriland or from the smashed and smashing banks of Australasia —who have found it necessary to prevent by law the depositors from taking out their funds ? If capital is so scare in Maoriland, why are the banks reducing deposit interest ? And, finally, if the land tax has ruined Maoriland credit, how is it. that her securities stand at the top of the Australasian list on the LOndon Stock Exchange ? Hey !’’ Melbourne, December. 18.
