The first match of the season for the Wellington Bowling Badges or " Feathers" was played between the present wearers, Messrs P. Drummond, W. Muir, J. Brown andT. D. Scoullar (skip),and Messrs Maudesley, Lawson, L. Blundell and Ballinger (skip). The badge - holders are a strong team, and scored 5 in the first three heads, when their exponents got a 1. .Mr Scoullar's team then got in a 4, and continued to pile things up until at the 9th head they had 14 to 1. Mr Ballinger's men in the next two heads got in 4 more —14 to 5 —and felt thankful for small mercies. The " Feather " men then sailed in again with a 4; Mr Ballinger's team in the next head got two, and at the 15th head the scoro was—Scoullar, 22 ; Ballinger, 7 : but Ballinger's team belongs to a stiff-necked generation, and although there were but six more heads to play they only let their opponents scoro one more, and when the match was finished they had g - ot up to 17, of which ono was a 4. Mr Scoullar's team has to play Mr A. Cainpb ell's now.
