AQUATICS.
Our London correspondent writes : Tyers, the English amateur champion swimmer, accomplished a very fine performance in a hundred yards handicap up north the other day. Starting from scratch he won his heat in 621sec —the fastest time cn record for Europe. The bath was 25yds long. London, July 21. For the seventh time the Prince of Wales’ yacht Britannia has defeated Mr Gould’s sloop Vigilant. The race this time took place at Kingston, and additional interest was taken in the contest, as on the last occasion when this pair of cracks met the visitor won, though the issue would have been doubtful had not the Britannia met with an accident.
