Christchurch, Juno 21. The Lyttelton Licensing Committee liavo refused licenses to the Crown, Railway and Cambridge Hotels. Christchurch, June 24. The Avon Licensing Committee heard evidence j esterday on behalf of two houses proposed to bo closed. It was decided to grant a license to tho Bower Hotel, at Now Brighton, and to refuse an application in respect of the Courtenay Arms. Christchurch, June 25. At a meeting of the Christchurch Licensing Committee, to-day, an application was made to transfer the licenso granted to tho Caversham Hotel to tho Scotch Stores, one of the houses recently closed. Both houses, it was stated, weie the property of tho same owner. Tho Committee declined to deal with tho application at present, but agreed to consider it if brought up at the next quarterly meeting. By Telegraph. — Own Correspondent. Palmerston North, June 22. At an adjourned meeting of the Licensing Bench, a transfer of the license of the Avondale Hotel to A. Fraser was approved, subject to a condition to build stables, ► &c. The application of Edwin Fisher for a transfer of tho license from Miss Crawford was refused on the ground that tho Committee could not grant" a second transfer within three months, but the Bench intimated that as Mr Wisher was now possessed of the Stipendiary Magistrate's certificate, there would bo no difficulty in tho transfer at the proper time.
