NOTES.

BY FANCIER, I notice an advertisement this week notifies that Mr George Martin is offering some ourly-coated retrievers for sale, the dam, being the imported biteh Lady Parby. This should be a good opportunity for sporting men to secure a good serviceable dog. The judge at the last "Wellington dog show (Mr H. N. Watson), said that Lady Darby was by far the best retriever bitch he had seen in the Colony, in faot, he said she would be hard to beat even in England. * « The hon. secretary of the New Zealand Kennel Club has been requested by the members of the Executive Committee of that body to call a meeting in Christchurch at an earlv date. I hope the committee will try and change the club from being the purely Christchurch concern that it is at present, into a genuine New Zealand Kennel Club, with headquarters at Wellington, and appoint an energetic hon. secretary, who will look after the Stud Book and enable owners of dogs who •xhibit at the different shows, to know their Stud Book numbers promptly. I would like to draw the attention of the committee of the Wellington Kennel Club to the fact that the New Zealand Kennel Club is to meet shortly at Christchurch. I hope the Wellington representative will voice the complaints of our local exhibitors, who have not yet received their Stud • Book numbers. ** • ■ ' My Christchurch correspondent writes : —The annual general meeting of the Christchurch Dog Society was held last week, Dr B. M. Moorhouse, president of the society, was in the chair. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—-President, Dr B, M. Moorhouse; vice-presidents, Dr J. H. Deamer, Messrs D. Bellhouse, G. Bisset, Alexander Boyle, P. Campbell, N. W. Edwards, J. N. Hamer, P. Selig, and J. White, junr.; honorary treasurer, Mr Alfred Evans; honorary secretary, Mr J. A. Connell (Mr D. Bellhouse wishing to be relieved of the office); auditor, Mr F. J. Grierson; honorary veterinary surgeon, Mr S. Brock; committee, the officers ex officio, and Messrs W. J. Bruce, R. T. Cook, R. Galloway, J. King, junr., W. H. Meddings, A. R. Ragg, G. B. Muschamp and B. Wark. The question as to the date of holding fbe next show was adjourned for a week, as was the appointment of a judge or judges.
