The Rev H. Van Staveron has very strong opinions about men who ill-treat their wives. Ho stated at the meeting of the Benevolent Society Trustees on Tuesday that it wa3 a great pity the " cat" could not be used for wife - beaters. The rev gentleman's indignation had been aroused by a poor woman's recital of the-ill-treat-ment sho had received from her husband.
