NEW ZEALAND LAND ASSOCIATION'S MONTHLY REPORT. Tho Association reports as follows, for the month ending Juno 12th : Wool.—Since our last report nothing tresn has occurred in tho market for this staple. Only small lots of crutchings and stragglers wool are coming forward for local sale, and these command fair attention. Latest cablo advices from London report the close of tho third series on the 31st ult., with a further fall in quotations. The fourth series are faxed to commence on the Ist prox. Sheepskins.—Moderate supplies have como forward during tho past month, and, notwithstanding the recent fire at the boiling down works of tho Wellington Meat Export Company at Ngahauranga, killing operations have not been suspended. Present quotations are as follows:—Best Factory Crossbreds—fullwoolled, 4s to 4s 9d; half-woolled, 3s 2d to 3s 9d; inferior and late shorn, 2s to 2s lid; pelts, Is 6d. Station skins have only oome forward in small supply, and in inferior condition, many of tho pelts having been scorched m tho drying, and in several cases faulty condition was traoeable to bad butchering. We quote recent sales as under : —Full-woolled, 3s 6cl to 3s lOd ; half-woolled, 23 6d to 3s ; inferior, Is 6d to 2s 3d; pelts 4d to Is. Hides.—These aro in limited supply, and best prices are ; Heavies, 3id per lb ; mediums, 2£d; inferior and cows, lid. At the recent Conference of Agricultural and Pastoral Associations attention was called to tho question of fire branding, and a suggestion that the animals should he branded on the neck seemed to find favour among the delegates. Flax.—The market, at the time of writing, has not shown any improvemeut since our last report, and millers who are holding for a better price, will have to exercise a further amount of patience. Stocks appear to be heavily held in Australia, and consignors aro careless about accepting present figures, which leave them with a loss. Enquiries for g.f .a.q. at .£lO per ton f .o.b. de not meet with much response. Hopes are entertained that a better tone will soon pervade the market and enable holders to quit at a slight loss on their produc"Weat.—Although recont London cablo advices have been far from showing any improvement, the local markets have been somewhat slightly more active, and reports from the south tend to prove that millers have been operating with rather more spirit than they have for some time previous. Fowl wheat still commandi good attention at previous quotations, and demand is well sustained. Quotations to-day aro :~Pearl and Tuscan (old), 2s Bd, (new) 2s 4W; Hunters (old), 2s 6d, (new) 2s 44: whole fowl wheat, 2s 2d, broken, Is lid, f.o.b. South, sacks eX OATS.—Holders are still storing for better figures, and business passing has not been of much importance ; a slight demand for primo samples for seed purposes has arisen, but pure qualities are difficult to obtain. We quote :-Seed duns, 2s 3d per bushel: seed Tartars, 2s 3d ; fair feed, Is 7d to Is lOd, ex< store, sacks extra. , Chaff.—Quotations are unchanged and the market at present is fairly full of aU qualities. Large parcels of southern chatt havo recently changed hands at 60s per ton for prime qualities, c.i.f. Wellington. Holders in the Wairarapa have not sent forward in such quantities, preferring to hold for tho present. , r . c Barley.—Prime malting samples are ditticult to obtain, and brewers are careless buyers of inferior quality. Recent sales of prime quality have been made at 3s 9d to 4s, f.o.b. south, sacks| extra; second quality, 3s per bushel. Grass Seed.—The demand for Autumn sowing has now virtually ceased, and stocks in tho south are reported heavy, so that the present quotations should be somewhat easier for spring demand. Hops.—Latest advices from Australia report that brewers will shortly be operating if prices are suitable and quality is prime.
Present quotation for fair to good quality is 10£d per lb., f.o.b. Nelson. WELLINGTON MARKETS. Messrs Laert & Co. report current whole sale values as under : Farm and Dairy Produce.
