The Trustees of the Home for the Aged Needy held their monthly meeting on the 7th inst. Mr J. Danks presided, and the Rev H. Van Staveren and Messrs P. H. Fraser and T. McKenzie were also present. Accounts were passed amounting to .£75 17s 2d. The secretary reported that funds were very low. Ho had sent out a number of circulars to subscribers and others pointing this out, and had to acknowledge with thanks the following donations: —Mrs W. R. Williams, M; M.H., £2; Mr J. P. Maxwell, j Mr H. Willcox, .£1 ,* Mr C. W. Smith, £1; a lady, ss. Ho reported also a donation of £7 3s 4d from the Wellington Reed Band, proceeds of a performance in the Basin Reserve, and the Trustees passed a vote of thanks to the band. The secretary said that there was great confusion in the minds of the public about the Home for the Aged Needy and the Benevolent Home. The former, he pointed out, is entirely supported by voluntary contributions, and the latter by the Benevolent Society, who can draw for the moneys they require from the rates through the Unitad JDiitrict^oa^
