On the 6th inst. the New Zealand Institute of Journalists wrote to the Premier urging the Government to use its best endeavours to pass into law during the coming session the Libel Bill, assimilating the law in the Colony on the subject to the law at present existing in England. Attention was drawn to the fact that the measure has three times been passed by the Legislative Council, and its principle affirmed by the House of Representatives. Mr Soddon has informed Mr George Humphries, hon secretary of the Institute, that the Government has decided to reintroduce the measure, this time in the Lower Chamber first. The New Plymouth people are getting over the problems of what to do with their boys and their sewage, by establishing a club for the former, and formulating a drainage scheme, for the latter.
