With regard to the offer of the miners at Cape Foulwind to supply two stones for the memorial to the late Hon John Ballance, the Memorial Committee has decided to ask them to have the stones cut up so as to form the top step of the base of the structure. It has been decided to allow the contractor for the memorial a term of twelve months to complete the work. The number of marriages performed throughout the world each day is estimated at 3000.
