A. G. Taino and Co., Wellington, report of the stock and produce markets for the week ending June Bth:—Fat sheep—Market is gradually firming and prices advancing. Prime wethers are wortli up to 13s ; medium, lis to 12s; heavy owes, 10s Gd to lis. At these prices business has been done. Store sheep—At this end of the province prices are good ; at the other end feed is scarce, and store stock low, particularly for lambs. We quote :—Good store wethers, well forward, 9s Gd to 10s Gd ; breeding ewes, young and good, no sales to report; lambs, Gs to 6s Gd for good healthy sorts. Fat cattle--We quote beef 19s per K»01b. Store cattle—Good demand for dairy cows and heifers at our Lower Hutt sale on Tuesday, sth. They sold up to M 10s for any good sorts. Wo could place a large number of dairy cows just now. We quote young milkers, calved and close to calving, £7 to £B. Pigs get duller as winter advances, except good baconers, which are worth Sid per lb, and porkers 20s to 32s Gd. Horse market—We held our usual weekly sale on Saturday. Entries were small and business very restricted. We report last week's quotations, and as we are selling southern draughts this week they will be a guide to the market. There is still a good demand for express horses. Sheepskins—Good demand for well-woolled skins. We quote Best crossbreds, 3s Gd to 4s ; country skins, 2s 6d to 3s; pelts, Gd to Is Gd; broken skins, to 4M per lb. Hides—No change. Babbitskins—We can place any quantity at full market rates. Summers, 2d to sd; autumns and early winters, 7d to Bd. Tallow—Market quiet; prices unaltered. Wheat—No change to report. Milling, 2s lOd to 2a lid ; fowls' wheat, 2s 4d to 2s Gd. Oats -Bright good feed, is lOd to is lid ; lighter sorts, is 8d to is 9d, sacks extra. Barley -Prime malting, 4s to 4s 3d. Potatoes—Best Derwonts, 50s to 52s Gd ; market weak ; supply large. Chaff—Best oaten chaff, 70s to 755; lot of heated on the market, which keeps price down. Properties—The demand for good country properties still continues, but few sales are resulting from negotiations. Prices are mostly too high j buyers think so, at all events. A

disposition to meet buyers on their part would certainly lead to business. Tho New Zealand Land Association report for the week ending- Bth Juno, 1891, as follows : Wool. —The market remains inactive, as at this period of the year only a few odd bales of stragglers are coming forward for local sale. Latest London advices reported tho close of the third series with a further drop in prieos. Sheepskins.—The maikot during the week has been quiet, not many lines coming forward. Factorv crossbreefs realised up to 4s 7d for full-woollod, and up to 4s for modium and luilf-woolled. Station skins are in limited supply, and best figures at present are 3s 6d to 3s 10d for full-woollod, 2s Gd to 3s for halfwoolled. Hides.—There is no alteration to report, heavies bringing 3Jd per lb; mediums, 2Jd ; inferior and cows, ljd. Flax. —This product is still somewhat of a drug on tho market, and whoro sales have been effected the price has not been satisfactory to the miller. Advices from Australia tend to show that largo stocks are held there, but hopes aro entertained that quotations will advance shortly. "Wheat. —Business passing during thowoek has been somewhat of a modified nature, and sales have not been so numerous. Quotations remain unchanged from last week's figures, viz.:—Hunter's (old), 2s Gd, (now) 2s 4d; pearl and Tuscan (old), 2s Bd, (new) 2s 4sd; whole fowl wheat up to 2s 2d, broken to Is lid, f.o.b. South, sacks extra. Oats. —A slight demand for sood purposes has arisen, but prime samples for this purpose are difficult to obtain. We quote duns and Tartars, for seed, 2s 3d ; fair feed, Is 7d to Is lOd, sacks extra, ex store. Chaff.—Quotations are unchanged, an 1 large parcels of Southern chaff have ivociuly been purchased at £3 5s per ton, c.i.f. Wellington, sacks in. Several Wairarapa holders are stacking in tho expectation of hotter figures in tho near future. Barley.—A good demand exists for prime qualities, which aro difficult to obtain, and are quoted up to 3s 9d per bushel, f.o.b. South, sacks extra. Grass Seed.—There is nothing to report in this market, as tho season being over no sales are passing. Hopb.—There is a probability of an immediate demand in Australia for prime Nelson hops, which growers aro quoting at present at 10£d per lb, f.o.b. Nelson. ||A. G. Taino and Co. report of their weekly horse salo on Saturday: -Wo hail only a moderate entry in our yards, Harris street. We offered, on behalf of Mr John Small, of Canterbury, fivo draught horses, all good sorts. The market was dull, and although we were offorcd .£22 for a good mare and -£lB for a good colt, those prices did not satisfy the vendor, and they are now for private sale. We hope to closo for the unsold portion in a day or two. Wo sold medium draughts at J 613 10s and .£ls, and hacks and harness horses at £5 10s and «£7. Tho demand is confined to horses suitable for express and light spring dray work, with a fair demand for good light harness sorts. Wo do not look for very much improvement in any others until the spring. London, June 6. The American visiblo wheat supply is estimated at nearly 72,000,000 bushels. A cargo of Australian wheat sold at 22s 3d. Eight thousand five hundred quarters of Victorian wheat, Juno shipment, sold at 22s 9d, and 7500 quarters Victorian wheat, July shipment, at 22s Gd. June 7. Now Zealand long-borried wheat, ex warehouse, 245, firm; South Australian do, 245, steady; Victorian do, 24s Gd, steady. A cargo of South Australian wheat has been sold at 22s 9d. Frozen mutton—First quality, 4fcd ; second quality, 3§d. Lamb, first quality, 4£d. Tho hemp market is firm, but quiet. Sugar—Best German beet, lis 9d; Java, 14s, steady. New Zealand cheese is quoted at 54s to sos perewt. Mr Bruce, of New South Wales, finds there is little encouragement in Germany to push tho trade in Australian produce. Dunedin, Juno 7. The Agricultural and Pastoral Association's winter show was opened to-day, and on all hands is admitted to be a success. The Garrison Hall proved too small for all the exhibits. A central attraction is the monster cheese, weighing 11501 b, made by the Wyndham Dairy Factory. There are also on view tho produce of 15 other factories. The cup for the best lOcwt of new cheese has been won by the Waikouaiti Factory. Nearly 3000 persona visited the show during the afternoon and evening.
