Sir W. V. Harcourt, in [a letter to General Booth, highly eulogises liis oversea scheme, and says ho recognises him as a public benefactor. « . The sale of properties and effects m the estate of W. XI. Hayes, circus proprietor held last week by Taine and Co., attracted a largo crowd of people. Amongst those present were tho late proprietor and the members of tho company. Bidding vias not at all brisk, and poor price 3 3»eie realised all round. There being no satisfactory offer for the circus as a going concorn tho property w&s sold in lots, ctiid dis posed of to outsiders. Tho horses realised prices ranging from J£3 15s to £$ 10s the trick ponie.3, Tommy and Charlie, selling at £j and M 5s respectively. Waggons, harness, tent, &c., were all disposed of, but prices were in every instance far below par.
