Wanganui, March 15. For the third day of the New Zealand Polo Association tournament there was lovely weather and a good attendance. The first heat was between Rangitikei lI.—W. A. Keiller, J. Keiller, W. B. Saunderson and N. Gorton—v. Manawatu I.—Baker, Williams, Sewell and Lloyd. A good game ended in a win for Manawatu, the score being :—Manawatu, 5 ; Rangitikei, 2. The following heat was Christchurch —A. Rhodes, H. Rhodes, Buckley and Lance —v. Rangitikei I. D. Riddiford, Bill, J. G. Wilson and Blundell. Great interest centred in this match, the first-named team having won the Cup twice running. The Rangitikei men were toe good, however, for their opponents, and at the end of the game the scores were :—Rangitikei, 10; Christchurch, 1. Wanganui, March 16. The third day's proceedings of the New Zealand Polo Association meeting for the Savile Cup tournament took place to-day, the occasion being the final bout between Rangitikei I. D. Riddiford, J. G. Wilson, Bill and Blundell—and Manawatu I.—A. S. Baker, A. Williams, W. Lloyd and Snow. There was a strong north-easterly wind blowing, but it did not interfere with the play. The score of the first bout Avas: — Rangitikei, 4 ; Manawatu, 0. The second bout showed Manawatu on their mettle, Lloyd scoring a goal, but Rangitikei played the better game of the two. After some play in Rangitikei's territory, Bill got away with the ball, and as he was splendidly followed up by his colleagues, Rangitikei scored their fifth goal, and so things stood until the end of the spell. The third spell found Manawatu on the aggressive, but the combined play of the Rangitikei men was too much for them, and in a very short time the latter scored their sixth goal. The change of ends gave Manawatu the advantage of

wind, and by a good run made by Lloyd they were able to score a goal. Rangitikei, G.- Manawatu, 2. Shortly after the change of sides the Rangitikei men added another goal to the score. The Mauawatus again asserted themselves, and from some pretty play were able to raise the score to 3. To the end of the spell the game was in favour of Rangitikei, who just before call of time got another goal, making S. The fourth bout saw both teams on the aggressive, both goals being many times in danger, but, though Manawatu played well and pluckily, Rangitikei managed to prevent any further score on that side, and the game ended Rangitikei, S ; Manawatu, 3. Rangitikei therefore is the winner of the cup for 1594. This evening the visitors are entertained at a ball by the townspeople, and to-morrow sports are to be held on the racecourse.
