Second Day. Feilding Racecourse, November 30. The weather has been showery all to-day, and the attendance showed a falling off as compared with yesterday, not exceeding 600. Mr Goodbehere, the secretary, was on duty to-day, and was as indefatigable as evei% keeping things well up to the mark all through. The fields were larger on the average, and the racing more interesting than on the first day, while the totalisator investments, in spite of the smaller attendance, nearly equalled those ol' Wednesday, showing a total of <£2555. Lonely and Nanakia were together in the back stretch, but the latter gave way soon after, and his place was taken by Morag, while Waituna, who had been in the rear, made a forward move into third place.' When well into the straight, Morag went to the front, and holding his own to the end, won comfortably by a length and a half from Lonely, who was about two length in front of Waituna. Time, 2min 58 l-ssec. Totalisator, 327; dividend, £3 13. After the race the stewards held an enquiry into the riding of Waituna by T. Scott, and being satisfied that he- had not ridden to win, disqualified him for six months, together with the owner, Mr R. Hammond, and the horse. Manchester Handicap, of 100 sovs; second horse to receive 10 sovs from the stake. One mile and a quarter. 138 Mr E. Calthorpe’s b h Monte Carlo, 4yrs, by Ascot —Speculation, Bst 51b , (Lett) 1 96 Mr A. S. Lovejoy’s ch h Musketeer, aged, 7st 31b (Watt) 2 163 Mr C. A. Durie’s g g Musket, syrs, 9st3lb ... Along the back the field closed up, and Krina and Variety made a bold bid for the lead. At the home turn Monte Carlo had the best position on the rails, and Variety looked very dangerous, but fully half a dozen were well in it at this stage, and the race had a most interesting appearance. Krina, Variety, St. Laura and Poinsettia were beaten as soon as they faced for home, and a good race between' the other three resulted in Monte Carlo winning cleverly by a length from Musketeer, while Musket was barely a length away third. Time, 2min 13 3-ssec. Totalisator, 638; dividend, =£4 3s. A protest against Monte Carlo by the owner of Musketeer on the ground of a cross was dismissed. Bloomsbury, Magazine and Irish Twist made the running from a somewhat straggling start, but there was little to choose between first and last as they sped along the back stretch. Approaching the home turn, Pihanga and Morag were seen threading their way to the front. They joined Magazine in the sti'aight, and Pihanga, coming away a hundred yards from home, won easily by two lengths from the grey, with Morag a good third. Time, lmin 51-sec. Totalisatoi’, 243; dividend, <£ls 12s. Railwat Handicap, of 40 sovs; .second horse, 5 sovs from the stakes. One mile and a distance. 82 Mr D. Along the back Prioress impi-oved her position, and was on terms with the leaders at the turn into the straight. King John and Daisy Clipper made a strong bid for victory, but Mr Knight’s mare was too much for them, and won without much to spare by a length from King John, Daisy Clipper being close up third, and Musketeer fourth. Time, 2min lsec. Totalisator, 403 ; dividend, <£4 Bs. Final Handicap Hack Flying, of 25 sovs; second horse, 5 sovs from the stakes ; winner of Second Hack Flat Handicap to cai-ry 71b penalty. From a straggling start, Marama, as usual, was away first, and had such a lead in the first hundred yards that it looked odds on his winning. But Pihanga was not to be denied. Putting in some rare strides, she

was alongside the topweight at the top of the straight, and. coming away in the run home, Avon cleverly by a long length, Bloomsbury being a length aAvay third. Time, lmin 6 4-ssec. Totalisator, 347; dividend, <£3 Is.

After the last race the steAvards held a meeting and reconsidered the charge against T. Scott of pulling Waititna. Fresh evidence having been obtained, the following resolution Avas passed : —“ That, as there appears to be some doubt as to whether Waituna was pulled or not, it is the opinion of the committee that the penalty of disqualification should be remitted; and they also think that T. Scott, the rider, should be severely oautioned as to his riding in future.” Scott was subsequently called in and cautioned accordingly.

Rangipuhi’s win in the St. Andrew’s Handicap Avas a surprise, and the result seems to slioav that Skirmisher is not good at a finish. Prime Warden’s run came too late to allow of his Avinning, as he could only get to within a neck of the leader. The amount put through the machine was <£5247.
