THE HON MR SEDDON.
London, November 29. Lord Glasgow, Governor of New Zealand, has recommended the Hon R. J. Seddon, Premier of that Colony, for Knighthood. ’’ V- '■ V. The press cablegram from London that His Excellency the Governor has recommended Mr Seddon for knighthood is a complete surprise to the Premier. He has had no communication from Lord Glasgow on the subject, and he is therefore inclined to doubt the news, feeling that His Excellency would be likely to consult him before taking such a step. Christchurch, December 2. To-day’s Press says —His ( Excellency the Governor authorises us to say that there is no foundation for the, statement that he has recommended Mr Seddon for Knighthood,
