The Kotorua railway bridges contract may how be regarded aa definitely let to Messrs Nicol and James, of Ngamawahia (Lower Waikato), whose price is a little under L3OCO. The lowest tenderers were Messrs Watson and Cameron, of Auckland, but they withdrew, and the next] lowest (Messrs Nicol and James) then stipulated for a special condition, which the Government were not prepared to agree to, Some negotiation followed, the result of which ie that Messrs Nicol and James have now abandoned their suggested special condition. The |contraCt provides for the erection of seven bridges, the largest of which will be four spans in length. In return for a postal note for 12s 6d we ill forward you per return of mail 1000 business billheads, printed on superior quality paper.
