By H.P.T. A committee meeting of the Wellington Kennel Club was held on Tuesday at the Club Hotel, Mr D, G. A. Cooper in the chair. A number of new members were elected. The vacancies on the committee were filled by the election of Messrs Triggs, Horrox, Pascoe and Rodgers. A number of accounts were passed for payment. The treasurer submitted a statement of accounts, which showed the club to be in a thoroughly solvent position. A discussion took place on the question of the next show, to be held in November next, and the name of a gentleman was mentioned as a judge. From the number of new dogs which have arrived in the Colony it is expected that the next show will eclipse all former efforts. Exhibits have already been promised from Christchurch, Auckland, Hawke's Bay and Nelson.

The Rnapehu, which arrived at Auckland during the week, brought the fox-terrier bitch Diversion, imported from England by Mr Triggs. She was served by Despoiler before leaving England, and has whelped on the voyage 3 dog and 3 bitch puppies. Diversion is by champion D'Orsay ex Dominnissa. Messrs Horrax, Pascoe and Harrison have been elected members of the Wellington Kennel Club. The fox-terrier puppy, the last unsold one of the. Vice-Regal—Very Charming - litter, was sold during the week to Air Jones. According to the Canterbury Times it is probable that Messrs Triggs and Coupe will become partners, and are importing a crack fox-terrier from England. The following is the pedigreeof Mr G. Martin's ' Lady Darbey,' recently brought from England by Mr Rogen:—

LADY DARBEY.

A VISIT TO MESSES HARRISON AND HORRAX'S KENNELS AT KARORL During the week I had the pleasure of visiting Messrs Harrison and Horrax's kennels at Karori. Before proceeding to describe these gentlemen's collies I should mention that they were the first to import prize collies to New Zealand. They were for many years prior to their coming to the Colony large breeders and exhibitors in England. Mr Horrax is a perfect encyclopaedia on the collie. He knows the pedigrees and all about the champion collies of the last ten years, besides he has numerous photographs of the leading collies of past years. The kennels are beautifully arranged. The fully grown dogs have about an acre of spare ground.to run in, whilst outside the kennels set aside for the puppies there are also nice yards. The whole lot, dogs and puppies, were the perfect picture of health and happiness. The oldest dog in the kennels is Mac (imported), who is the hero of many a prize ring, having secured first honours on no less than seventeen occasions. He is a black, tan, and white. Mac is by Trevor (a litter brother of the great champion Charlemagne) ex Gyp (a daughter of champion Carlyle). Highlander is next to be mentioned. I need not say much about him, as he was illustrated in the New Zealand Mail af(er the last dog show. His full pedigree was then given. I have only to add that he is tho favourite of Mr Horrax's children, is a perfect worker, and is a very handsome black, tan and white. Herdwick is only eleven months old. He is to my idea the pick of the kennels. Three months ago at the Wellington show ho beat Young England, a full-grown dog that belongs to Christchurch. He claims the attention of visitors at- once, not only by his beautiful colour and make, but by his good-tempered, intelligent expression. When I say that his father is Ormskirk Amazement and his mother

Ormskirk Stella, my readers will know how perfect his breeding is. His carriage is perfect, and he has a very full coat, with quantities of undercoat. He has beautiful brush, which he carries properly. Hume, a very pretty bitch, is by Mac ex Hastie. She is a perfect worker, and has the sweetest expression. She is a trifle undersized, but for which, I think, she would be a perfect model. Hannah, by champion Britannia, ex champion Moston Dolly, is a fairly good black, tan and white bitch, with perfect markings. The same remarks apply to Eaka. Now to turn to "the youngsters. There are five very pretty pups by Mae, ex Hannah. Of these there arc one or two that promise to turn out' clinkers.' Another litter contains four puppies by Mac out of Haidee, but these are as yet too small to judge. I have forgotten a very promising young dog, High Flyer, by Highlander, ex Britannia. Ho is a very good-tempered fellow, and is

marked black, tan and white. I think that before very long he will be pretty hard to beat.

I have lost my notes on a pair of bitches that are about six months old. I am sorry, as they deserve special mention, They promise to turn out regular ' out and outers.' Very much alike, they are marked black, tan and white. Their owners are, as they have every reason to be, very proud of them. I feel sure that before very long they will make names for themselves on the show bench. There is still a puppy I have not mentioned—a sable and white—who was owned by Mr H. W. Watson. He is a very plucky little fellow.

Messrs Harrison and Horrax have been most careful in importing, and the collies mentioned above are all direct descendants of such warriors as champions Trefoil, Carlyle, Old Cockie, Old Lassie, Metchley Wonder, Christopher, and many others. In conclusion, let me advise Wellington collie fanciers, who feel disposed to take a walk on Sunday afternoons, to go as far as Karori, they will be properly in their element.
